Pierre-Emmanuel Jacob (IN)

Pierre-Emmanuel Jacob is the Director of Alliance Française of Madras. Hailing from Noisy-Le-Sec, a city near Paris he holds degrees in International Relations from the French Political Science Institute of Aix-en-Provence, and in Public International Law from the Graduate Institute of International Studies of Geneva.

Previously the Director of Cultural Affairs in Paris, in 2010 Mr. Jacob was awarded the prestigious title of “Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters” in France.

Mr. Jacob’s coming to India is actually a happy return for him as he was previously the Director of the Alliance Française of Bombay from 1997 to 2001. He is well-integrated into the Alliance Française network, and has also managed the Alliance Française of Macao from 1995 to 1997, and of Singapore from 2005 to 2010.


The Alliance Française of Madras works to promote the cultural relations between India and France in Tamil Nadu. Created in 1953, it is a Society affiliated to “Fondation Alliance Française”, whose headquarters is based in Paris. The Alliance Française network is present in more than 135 countries, on the 5 continents. The Alliance Française of Madras is supported by the French Embassy in India.
